The Manawatu Branch of the Royal Society of New Zealand is a regional constituent organisation of the RSNZ. Our aim is to publicise science and technology and provide interesting and topical talks for our members and the public of the Manawatu. All our talks are free and the public are invited to attend.
RSNZ Manawatu has active links with the Manawatu Branches of the: Geological Society of New Zealand, Institute of Professional Engineers of New Zealand, New Zealand Institute of Chemistry as well as Massey University, Te Manawa (the science centre and Manawatu museum), the Crown Research Institutes based at based on the Fitzherbert West Campus and the those on the Massey's Turitea Campus.

The Science Café is an informative, relaxed environment where issues in science can be discussed and debated. Each session starts with a brief presentation by a speaker. What follows is the opportunity to quiz and debate, agree and oppose, postulate and ponder the topics raised while enjoying a coffee or two.

The society manages the granting of many different categories of awards, honours and medals. The Manawatu Branch encourages members to propose suitable candidates for these awards.
